People suffer as buses go off
Dhaka-bound buses from 11 northern districts remained stopped for 12 hours yesterday centering feud between motor owners' associations, causing immense sufferings to passengers.
Ariful Islam of Lalmonirhat said “I was going to Dhaka by Shyamoli Paribahan. Around 12:00 noon, some people stopped our bus at Charmatha in Bogra town and got us down from the bus.”
Meanwhile, Dhaka-bound buses from Bogra remained suspended from February 26. Bogra motor owners and labour leaders closed all the Bogra-Dhaka bus counters at Thanthania in Bogra.
Joint Convener Aminul Islam of Bogra District Motor Owners' Association said, “Dhaka-bound bus from northern districts remained suspended from yesterday morning. The decision came from a part of Rajshahi Divisional Transport Owners-Labour Oikya Parishad after a meeting in Bogra on Tuesday.
Bogra District Motor Owner Group Convener Manjurul Alam Mohon said some leaders of Central Transport Labour Association locked some bus counters for last several days in Mohakhali and Gabtoli bus terminals due to an internal dispute between Bogra and Naogaon motor owners' associations.
Suspension of Dhaka-bound buses was withdrawn around 6:00pm yesterday following a meeting between DC Nure Alam Siddique and Bogra motor owners and labourers, said Aminul.
