Pabna Express' power car parts stolen before inauguration
Parts of the power car of Pabna Express, kept under the security of the Railway Nirapotta Bahini (RNB), were stolen before formal inauguration of the train.
The parts of the train were stolen on Friday, said Ashim Kumar Talukder, Pakshey divisional railway manager.
Four highly powerful batteries, 199 litres of fuel, valuable electric cables, switches and other electrical equipment in the train were missing, he said.
Railway authority repaired the train and made it ready for the inauguration ceremony, he added.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is likely to inaugurate the newly built train on July 14, said Ashim Kumar.
A group of thieves might have stolen the valuable equipment from the power car of the wagon no 5401 in the newly introduced train, although it was kept under the security of RNB he said.
A RNB security official was suspended for his negligence of duty and an official inquiry is going on to find out the real culprits, said Md Abdul Karim, commander of RNB, Ishwardi junction.
