Offshore gas exploration: Deal signed with SKorean company
The government today signed a deal with Posco Daewoo Corporation, a South Korean company, for exploration of gas in deep-sea block-12 in the Bay.
The state-owned energy company Petrobangla, Posco Daewoo and the energy ministry of Bangladesh signed the deal at the headquarters of Petrobangla in Dhaka.
Posco Daewoo is engaged in exploration of gas in the maritime area of neighbouring Myanmar.
Bangladesh's gas production averages 2,700 million cubic feet every day with demand running at more than 3,300 mmcfd, according to Petrobangla.
