Woman stabbed dead by son

A woman was stabbed dead by her son over family dispute at Tamai Kaliapara in Belkuchi upazila of Sirajganj yesterday.

The victim Nargis Begum, 45, wife of Korban Ali of the village, had bitter relation with her son Yeasin Ali over family dispute.

Belkuchi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Anwarul Islam said Yeasin quarreled with his mother over family dispute. At one stage, he stabbed his mother indiscriminatiely with a knife, leaving her dead.

Yeasin went into hiding after the incident, the OC said, adding that police recovered the body and sent it to Sirajganj General Hospital for an autopsy. Police are trying to nab the culprit son, he added.
