Woman dies on news of brother's death

An elderly woman died after hearing news of the death of her ailing brother in Rangabali upazila of the district on Monday night.

A pall of gloom spread over the area as the siblings died on the same day, said Saiduzzaman Mamun Khan, chairman of Rangabali Union Parishad.

The deceased were Sakina Begum, 75, of Kazirhawla area and her elder brother Joynul Abedin, 80, of Baherchar area in the upazila.

Locals and family members said Joynul died of old age related diseases at his house around 9:30pm on Monday.

After hearing the death news, his sister Sakina died following cardiac arrest around 10:00pm.

Joynul and Sakina were buried at their family graveyard yesterday, said the chairman.
