Two-yr-old child crushed under truck

A two-year-old boy was killed and two others were injured in a road accident in Mirzapur upazila yesterday.

The deceased was Jahid Hasan, son of Jakir Hasan of Telina village in the upazila.

Mirzapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge AKM Mizanul Haque said the accident occurred on Hatubhanga-Sakhipur Road in Syedpur area around 12:00 noon when a truck collided head-on with a battery-run auto-rickshaw.

The truck ran over the boy and his mother, who were on the auto-rickshaw, leaving the boy dead on the spot, he said.  

After the accident, local people seized the truck but its driver managed to flee, he added.

The injured mother of the boy and the auto-rickshaw driver were under treatment at a private clinic in Gorai, he added.
