Two policemen sued for taking bribe
Two policemen were sued for taking Tk 13.69 lakh as bribe from a young man in Sadar upazila promising to give him a job in the police department.
The accused are Shamim Akon, 46, a sub-inspector at Mohammadpur Police Station in the capital, and his younger brother Al-Amin Akon, 34, a constable at Barguna Sadar Police Station.
Milon Dakua, son of Sirajul Haq Dakua of Talikhali village, filed the case with Patuakhali Senior Judicial Magistrate's Court yesterday.
Patuakhali Senior Judicial Magistrate Aminul Islam took the case into cognizance and ordered the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to submit a report after investigating the matter.
According to the case statement, the two siblings offered Milon a job in the police department and demanded Tk 14 lakh as bribe for the purpose.
As per their demand, Milon paid Tk 13.69 lakh to them, Tk 9.69 lakh through two bank accounts and Tk four lakh in cash, at different times but failed to get the job.
Shamim refused to return the money when Milon asked for the money on September 24.
