Two fined for cutting hills

A mobile court fined two persons on charge of cutting hills in Barlekha upazila under the district yesterday.

Lokman Hakim, 45, a tractor driver, was fined Tk 50,000 in Krishnagar area while Nuruddin, 32, was fined Tk 500 in Gangarjal area.

The mobile court led by Executive Magistrate Sharif Uddin awarded the punishment.

The two were later released after realising the fine, said the magistrate, also assitant commissioner (Land) of  the upazila.
