Suspected robber found dead

Police recovered the bullet-riddled body of an alleged robber from Motua Jhaubagan area in Sadar upazila of the district yesterday.

The deceased was Mohammad Babul alias Kashai Babul.

Police said 45-year-old Babul, was accused in at least 12 cases, including for murder, robbery, mugging and other criminal activities, filed with different police station.

Police said, hearing the sound of gunfights between two rival groups of robbers at Motua Jhaubagan area under Dharmapur union of the upazila in the dead of Monday night, a police team went to the spot.

Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the robbers fled the scene.

Police later found bullet-hit Babul lying on the ground and took him to Feni Sadar Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.

Police also recovered a pistol, two magazines and three bullets from the spot, Officer in Charge of Sadar Model Police Station Abul Kalam Azad said, adding that the body was sent to Feni Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
