PBCP leader arrested in Jhenidah

Police arrested a regional leader of outlawed Purba Banglar Communist Party (PBCP-Janajuddha) from Parbatipur village in Harinakundo upazila of the district early yesterday.

The arrestee is arms trader Anjer Ali, 45, son of Sabdar Ali of Parbatipur village in the upazila.

ASP Tarik Al Mehedi said informed that a group of PBCP-Janajuddah were holding a meeting at the village they raided the area and arrested Anjer with a pistol and one bullet.

However, the rest managed to flee the scene, he said.

Anjer is accused in five cases, including four for murder, said the police official.
