Missing woman found dead

The decomposed body of a missing divorcee woman was recovered yesterday from a char of the Chhoto Jamuna river at Chakla Kohurhat village in Panchagarh Sadar upazila.

The deceased was Shahnaj Khatun, 20, daughter of Abdur Razzak of Chaklahat Tahashilpara village in the same upazila.  

Local people saw her decomposed body on the char and informed the police.

Victim's elder brother Hossain Ali told local journalists that Shahnaj used to live in her paternal house for about a year after her divorce.

She went out of the house on October 31 and did not return home since then, he said.

Hossain Ali filed a case in this connection with Panchagarh Police Station yesterday.

Sub-Inspector of the police station Abu Sufian said the body was sent to Panchagarh Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Sufian said the body was dumped about six to seven days ago after killing the woman. “We are investigating the matter to find the clue to the murder and also trying to arrest the culprits,” he added.
