Missing schoolboy found dead in septic tank

An 11-year-old schoolboy was found dead inside a septic tank in Shariatpur's Bhedarganj upazila on Saturday night, nine days after he went missing on January 17.

Being informed, police recovered the body of Al-Amin, a Class V student at a local government primary school and son of Swapan Majhi, from Baherchar village around 10:00pm.

Deceased's father Swapan said Al-Amin went out of his house to attend a waz mahfil (religious gathering) on January 17 evening and remained missing since then.

"After failing to find him, I lodged a GD with Sakhipur Police Station the next day. On suspicion we searched a septic tank beside our neighbour's house and found Al-Amin's body inside it around 8:00pm," Swapan said.

Police primarily suspected that criminals might have killed the boy over a family feud and dumped the body there, Officer in Charge of Sakhipur Police Station Anamul Haque said.
