Man hit by train, dies

A man, who sustained critical injuries after being hit by a running train on Lalmonirhat-Burimari route on Sunday morning, died at Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) the same night.

The deceased, Rafiqul Islam, 36, an employee of a local poultry farm, was a resident of Doikhawa village in Hatibandha upazila.

A Lalmonirhat-bound train hit Rafiqul near Khochabari in Sadar upazila on Sunday morning while he was going to the district town on a bicycle, wearing earphones, said Adam Ali, sub-inspector (SI) of Government Railway Police (GRP) in Lalmonirhat.

Critically injured Rafiqul was rushed to RMCH where he breathed his last the same night, SI Adam said.
