Man hacked to death

An elderly farmer died at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) on Saturday, following  injuries inflicted allegedly by his sister-in-law.

The victim was Kamal Mia, 60, of Harulia Katorpara village in Barhatta upazila of Netrakona.

Kamal and his cousin Rajab Ali quallelled over a land dispute on Saturday morning and Rajab's wife Aleha Akter, 49, hacked Kamal with a vegetable cutter, leaving him critically injured, Barhatta Police Station OC Md Badrul Alam Khan quoted the victim's family members and neighbours as saying.

Kamal died at  MMCH.

"Victim's brother Shabdil Mia lodged a case accusing five people including Rajab and Aleha. Police arrested Aleha and produced her before a court that sent her to jail today [Sunday]," the OC said.
