Housewife tortured for dowry

A housewife was tortured and her hair cut-off allegedly by her dowry greedy husband and in-laws in Joypurhat's Akkelpur upazila.

Police arrested victim's husband Ruhul Amin, 30, his parents Abul Kalam Azad, 60, and Nazma Begum, 52, and younger brother Shahin Alam, 25, on Tuesday night after the victim filed a case on Sunday.

Police produced them before a court yesterday that sent them to jail.

Police said Ruhul and his family members had been torturing the victim for dowry since their marriage in 2015.

As a sequel, the four arrestees brutally tortured the victim and cut-off her hair on the night of October 10.

Villagers rescued her and admitted to Akkelpur Upazila Health Complex.
