Abducted schoolboy yet to be rescued
Over a month into his abduction, police are yet to rescue a schoolboy in Manikganj Sadar upazila.
The only son of Saudi expatriate Mohammed Ali of Dhalla-Kaftia village, victim Ashraful Islam is a Class X student of Kafataia High School in the upazila.
Relatives and family members blamed police’s negligence for not rescuing Ashraful, 40 days into the incident.
The victim’s mother Fatema Begum said Ashraful went out of house with a motorcycle for private tuition on August 6 and since then he did not return home.
Ashraful’s father Mohammad Ali said he had been working in Saudi Arabia since 2001.
A few days after abduction, a gang demanded Tk 5 lakh as ransom from him for his son’s release over phone, he said, adding that after the incident, he returned Bangladesh and informed law enforcers about the matter.
A general diary was filed with Manikganj Sadar Police Station in this connection, he said.
Officer-in-Charge of the police station Rakibuzzaman said they are trying their best to rescue the boy.
