Most wanted Kala Masud arrested

Aslam Hossain alias Kala Masud, a most wanted criminal, was held in Saptana Bazar area of the town yesterday.

Police also seized 103 packets of heroin and 75 Yaba tablets from his possession, said Reazul Haque, assistant sub-inspector of Sadar Police Station.

The 40-year-old arrestee is younger brother of Lalmonirhat municipality's ward No 5 councillor Salam Miah, and son of Nurul Haque of the area.

Kala Masud, former Jubo Dal leader of the municipality unit, was expelled from the party as various cases, including those for murder, were lodged against him three years ago.

The most wanted criminal is accused in 13 cases, including three for murder, Officer-in-Charge Mahfuzur Rahman said, adding that he had been earning from peddling contraband drugs for long.

Mamun Islam, a resident of Saptana Bazar area, said Kala Masud is a terror for general people in the area, and he can do everything, even murder, for his interest.

“He is the killer of my younger brother,” Mamun said, adding that local people felt relieved after he was arrested.

All cases against the most wanted criminal are under trial, said the OC.
