‘More steps towards stronger ties with India’
Terming Bangladesh-India relation as unique and multi-dimensional, Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali today said that more new initiatives will be taken to strengthen the existing friendly relations between the two neighbour countries.
"It is expected that fruitful discussions will take place over different bilateral issues and new initiatives will be taken to take forward the relations," he said at a discussion in Dhaka’s CIRDAP auditorium.
He said the two countries need to work together to face the possible challenges and to build a prosperous future.
“As the nearest neighbour, the future of the two countries is a part of history and traditional ties,” he said.
The minister said India’s assistance, mutual sympathy, bilateral friendship and solidarity have contributed to the development of Bangladesh.
Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee organised the discussion marking the 45 years of India’s recognition to independent Bangladesh.

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Harsh Vardhan Shringla was a special guest at the discussion.
Recalling the Indian soldiers, who sacrificed their lives during the Liberation War of Bangladesh, the foreign minister expressed his profound gratitude to India for its highest cooperation in Liberation War of 1971.
He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during her visit to India this month would inaugurate the formal honour awarding programme to those Indian soldiers who died during the Bangladesh’s Liberation War.
