The body of a 24-year-old young man was found in a pond in Hakimpur upazila of the district yesterday, three days after he went missing on Friday.

The deceased, Ali Akbar, was son of Hanif Mondal of Fakirpara village in the upazila.

Victim's family members said Akbar went out of his house on Friday and did not return home.

Locals spotted Akbar's body floating in a pond in the bordering village around 10:30am and informed the police.

Officer-in-Charge Abdus Sabur of Hakimpur Police Station said police recovered Akbar's decomposed body and sent it to the hospital morgue for autopsy.

Deceased's father Hanif Mondal alleged that criminals might have killed Akbar and dumped the body there.
