Militancy remains under control, reiterates home minister
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan today said law enforcers have been dealing the militancy issue with strong hands, bringing its menace in the country under control.
“The militancy threat is now totally under control but not eliminated completely,” he said at his secretariat office hours after a raid of joint forces ended at a militant den in Chittagong today.
Claiming the Chittagong’s Sitakunda raid as successful, Minister Khan said the law enforcers cordoned off the militant den overnight and went on operation this morning.
At least five people including a woman and a child were killed in the “Neo JMB” militants hideout in Sitakunda upazila, according to Chittagong police.
Homegrown militant activists were engaged in carrying out such attacks, he said adding that there is no existence of Islamic State (IS) militants in Bangladesh.
