Man kills baby, woman killed by daughter-in-law

An infant was killed allegedly by her drunken father in Moulvibazar while a woman was beaten to death by her daughter-in-law in Gaibandha on Tuesday.

Our Moulvibazar correspondent reported that an alcoholic killed his two-month-old daughter and injured his wife and another daughter in Habiganj's Lakhai upazila.

The deceased, Ikra Moni, was daughter of Faizur Mia of Manpur village.

Locals said drunken Faizur beat up his wife Fuljan and nine-year-old daughter over a family feud on Tuesday evening. At one stage, Faizur threw Ikra to the ground. 

Villagers took Ikra to Habiganj Sadar Hospital where the doctors declared her dead.

Police arrested Faizur the same night.

Away in Gaibandha, a woman allegedly killed her mother-in-law in Sundarganj upazila.

The deceased, Maksuda Begum, 40, was wife of Abdul Hamid of Dakuatari village.

Quoting family members, police said Sharifa Begum locked in an altercation with her mother-in-law Maksuda over a family feud on Tuesday night and at one stage, she hit Maksuda on the head with a stick.

Injured Maksuda died on her way to Rangpur Medical College Hospital the same night.

Police arrested Sharifa from her house yesterday.
