Man killed as villagers clash in Faridpur

A man was killed in a clash between two rival families at Kornikanda village in Bhanga upazila on Saturday.

The deceased was Hannan Matabbor, 61, of Kornikanda village in the upazila.

Nayan Howlader, a member of Azimnagar Union Parishad, said the grandson of Hannan locked in an altercation with the younger son of Awal Matabbor, cousin of the victim, in the afternoon.

As a sequel to the conflict, the two families equipped with bamboo sticks clashed, leaving Hannan seriously injured. He later died at the upazila health complex.

The victim's daughter filed a murder case, accusing Awal Matabbor and his wife the following day, said Miraz Hossain, officer-in-charge of Bhanga Police Station.
