A man was stabbed to death yesterday allegedly by his younger brother over a land dispute in Gomostapur upazila of the district.

The deceased was identified as Abdur Rashid, 60, son of Humed Ali of Belal Bazar-Choudala village in the upazila.

Gomostapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahin Kamal said Rashid locked into an altercation with his younger brother Mohammad Durul, 55, over a piece of land in the morning. At on stage, Durul attacked his elder brother Rashid with a hasua (sharp weapon) and stabbed him in the neck. Locals rushed him to Gomostapur Upazila Health complex where he succumbed to his injuries, Shahin said.

Later, Durul was arrested in this connection, the OC said.
