Main accused arrested, victim yet to be rescued

The main accused in a case for abducting a teenage girl was arrested on Monday from Mogholhat union under Sadar upazila.

The arrestee is Sultan Ali, 32, son of late Akbar Ali of Kakeyatepa village.

The victim is yet to be rescued as Sultan has not disclosed where she is, said Investigation Officer of the case Sub-Inspector Kawsar Ali of Sadar Police Station.

“Sultan also did not disclose who were involved in the abduction,” Kawser said.

Police said Sultan and three cohorts abducted the girl from the village on May 20.

A general diary was lodged with the police station the next day. A case accusing one named and three unnamed people was filed on June 13.

Victim's mother alleged that Sultan is connected with criminals. “We do not know what happened to our daughter,” she said, appealing to police to rescue her daughter.

Officer-in-Charge of the police station Mahfuz Alam said the police have arrested the main culprit and hopefully the other accused will be arrested soon.

He hoped to rescue the girl soon.
