Madrasa teacher among 3 abducted in Bandarban
An armed gang abducted three people, including a madrasa teacher, from Lama upazila of the district on Sunday night.
The victims are Nezam Uddin, 35, a teacher of Al Barakul Momin Madrasa in Chokaria upazila of Cox's Bazar, Kamal Hossain, 32, an easy bike driver, and Ali Ahmed, 28, a fish trader.
Sirajul Islam, officer-in-charge of Lama Police Station, said a gang of criminals waylaid an easy bike with six passengers aboard in Double Bridge area near Fakirakhola area around 10:30pm and picked up all passengers of the three-wheeler and its driver.
The gang took the seven to Kutakhali garden area and beat them up. They later released four of the victims, the OC added.
Law enforcers are raiding different areas to rescue the three and arrest the culprits involved, the OC further said.
Solaiman member, brother of Kamal, said the abductors phoned him yesterday morning, demanding Tk 6 lakh as ransom for release of his brother.
