In-laws kill pregnant woman for dowry

In-laws allegedly killed a pregnant woman for dowry at Bhuakandi village in Sadar upazila  yesterday.

The deceased was Sharmin Akter, 22, daughter of Manik Pramanik of Kamlapur area in the town.

“Sharmin married farmer Md Nasir of the village three years ago. Nasir and his family members often tortured her for dowry. For this reason she came to her father's house one month ago. Sharmin went back to her husband's house a few days later.

Nasir and his family members took Sharmin to Faridpur Medical College Hospital yesterday and left the hospital when on-duty doctor declared her dead,” said victim's uncle Abdus Samad Sardar.

“Sharmin hanged herself yesterday, but I don't know why she did it,” said Nasir's elder brother Md Masud.
