Khulna-Kolkata test bus service starts today
In another development towards road connectivity between Bangladesh and India, Khulna-Kolkata direct bus service will start on test through Benapole check post today.
It will be the third direct bus service between the two countries after Dhaka-Kolkata and Agartala-Dhaka. This initiative has been taken according to Bangladesh-Bhutan-India-Nepal Motor Vehicles Agreement.
Shuvendu Adhikari, transport minister of West Bengal, will inaugurate the bus service from in front of Rubi Hospital in Kolkata around 12:00noon.
A 12-member delegation led by Alapan Bandyopadhyay, principal secretary of the transport department in West Bengal, will be presented at the inauguration programme.
Besides, Bangladesh will start operation of goods-laden vehicles on Dhaka-Delhi via Kolkata route on trial basis the same day.
