Khaleda leaves Dhaka for Hajj
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia left Dhaka this afternoon for Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj there at the invitation of the Saudi king.
She left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by a Saudi Airlines flight around 5:15pm, Khaleda’s media wing staff Sayrul Kabir Khan told The Daily Star.
BNP standing committee members including Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain, Mirza Abbas, Khaleda’s advisory council members and a good number of leaders and activists of the party went to the airport to see her off.
Khaleda’s adviser Enamul Haque Chowdhury and her personal secretary ABM Abdus Sattar accompanied her.
BNP Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman, who is now living in London for treatment, his wife Dr Zobaida Rahman and his late brother Arafat Rahman Koko’s wife Sharmila Rahman may meet Khaleda Zia during the tour to Saudi Arabia, sources said.
Khaleda is expected to return home on September 22.
The BNP chairperson last visited Saudi Arabia in July, 2013 to perform Umrah.
