Islamic Univ student kills self

A student of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at a mess on Tuesday night.

The deceased was Sayem Raj, 19, a first year student at Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. He hailed from Faridpur's Nagarkanda upazila.

He stayed at a mess in Sheikhpara bazar area near the university, said Ratan Sheikh, officer-in-charge of Islamic University Police Station.

On information, police recovered the body by breaking open the door. Raj took his life when his roommates were out of the mess.

No suicide note was found, said the OC.

They are trying to find out reasons behind the suicide, he said.
