Ishwardi Jubo League leader sent to jail

A Pabna court sent an Ishwardi upazila Jubo League leader and his two accomplices to jail yesterday.

Judicial Magistrate's Court gave the order after Ishwardi police produced them before it.

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested Ishwardi upazila unit Jubo League Joint Secretary Md Arif Khan, 30, and his accomplices Sanwar Hossain, 26, and Md Harunur Rashid, 28, on Tuesday.

They arrested Arif from Channar More point in Ishwardi municipality early Tuesday on charge of arms peddling and according to his confessional statement detained  Sanwar and Harunur in separate raid at Shahpur and Enta villages of Ishwardi upazila.

A Rab-12 Pabna camp team conducted the raids, said Commander Md Ruhul Amin.

The elite force recovered two pistols, two pipe-guns, two magazines and 15 bullets from their possession, he added.
