'Hurting Religious Sentiment': Taqi's father gets bail
A Narayanganj court today granted bail to Rafiur Rabbi, a well-known cultural activist in the city and the father of murdered schoolboy Tanwir Muhammed Taqi, in a case filed on charge of allegedly hurting religious sentiment.
Maulana Ferdausur Rahman, district coordinator of Hefajat-e-Islam, filed the case with Narayanganj Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court on April 19.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Mahedi Hasan granted him bail upon a bond of Tk 5,000 when he appeared before the court and sought bail in the morning.
Gathering on the court premises, Hefajat activists were seen chanting slogans against Rabbi.
On April 7, during the 25th anniversary of local cultural organisation “Shrutee”, Rabbi delivered a speech hurting religious sentiment.
