Horse race held amid festivity

A traditional horse race was held amid festivity in Bhuapur upazila of the district on Monday.

People from all walks of life, men and women, enjoyed the race.

The race was jointly organised by the residents of Chhabbisha, Shaldair, Bhadurir Char and Safalkura villages at a field in Shaldair area in the afternoon.

Around 40 horses and riders from Tangail and adjacent districts took part in the race in two categories --Kodom and Dapot.

A horse and its rider from Jamalpur district secured first place in Dapot category and got a motorcycle as prize while a horse and its rider from Pabna district secured first place in Kodom category and got a refrigerator as prize, organisers said.
