Haripur power plant fire under control
A fire that broke out at Haripur power plant in Bandar upazila of Narayanganj early today has been brought under control after two and a half hours.
No casualties have been reported so far, said Bangla daily Prothom Alo.
The fire originated at Haripur grid sub-station around 3:30am, the daily reports quoting Abul Kalam, officer-in-charge of Bandar Police Station.
On information, several units of Fire Service and Civil Defence from Dhaka, Demra, Adamjee, EPZ and Bandar rushed to the spot and brought the flame under control around 6:00am, the OC said.
The fire might have originated from an electric short circuit, the OC added.
Haripur power plant encompasses four separate plants in its boundary. In addition to this, it has two grid sub-stations.
