Hajj agents asked to submit pilgrims’ passports by Aug 28
A total of 483 Hajj agents is asked to submit pilgrims’ passports to Saudi Arabian Embassy for Hajj visas by August 28.
“All the mentioned Hajj agents have been requested to complete visa procedure for the Hajjis as the Royal Saudi embassy will not accept any passport after August 28,” said an office order issued by the Hajj Department under Religious Affairs Ministry today.
The Saudi embassy has informed the Hajj Department through an office letter, said Abu Saleh Mostafa Kamal, director at Hajj Department in Dhaka.
This year, Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia selected 483 agents to handle the hajj activities of 96,558 pilgrims who have registered online.
Another 143 agents were waiting to get confirmation from the Saudi government to send around 15,000 pilgrims whose fate hangs in the balance.
Meanwhile, a total of 46,931 Bangladeshis has reached Mecca till today, according to a Hajj bulletin.
Off them, 8 people died, it said.
