GP official stabbed, robbed of Tk 3 lakh
Muggers snatched away Tk 3 lakh from a Grameen Phone (GP) official after stabbing him at Pachmaria in Puthia upazila of Rajshahi district on Wednesday, reports UNB.
The victim is Sitanath Banik, 36, son of Shushil Banik of Raninagar upazila in Naogaon district. Shitanath represents the mobile phone operator from its Pachmaria local office.
Hafizur Rhaman, inspector of Puthia Police Station, said in the afternoon, Sitanath was going to Rajshahi city after collecting flexiload (an electronic bill payment system) money from the local traders.
When he reached Pachmaria, a gang of six riding three motorbikes swooped on him, stabbed him indiscriminately and took away the money from his possession.
He was rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) and later shifted to Dhaka, said Abdul Malek, in-charge of RMCH police outpost.
In Natore, robbers looted cash and other valuables from three shops after killing a night guard in Sadar upazila of the district early yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Abul Bashar, 65, of Alaipur area in the district town, reports our correspondent.
Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said a gang strangled Bashar and took away Tk 7 lakh and goods from the shops at Uttara Super Market in the area.
