Govt moves to nationalise 285 colleges
The government has initiated a process to nationalise 285 colleges across the country to ensure quality education.
As per the decision, the authorities concerned have been asked to hand over movable and immovable properties of the colleges to the government, says a ministry notice.
According to the government plan, one college in each upazila will be nationalised, education ministry source said.
Existing teachers of the colleges will not be able to transfer to any colleges for the time being, the notice said.
There are 327 government colleges in the country at present. After fresh nationalisation, the total number of the government will stand over 6 hundred, source said.
