Govt to create 50,000 police posts: Home minister
The government, in principle, has decided to create 50,000 more posts with Bangladesh Police to further strengthen the capacity of the law enforcement agency.
"As part of the move, the government has already taken steps for creating 226 posts with Narsingdi district police and 367 posts with Rajshahi police," Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan told the Jatiya Sangsad this morning.
He was replying to two separate scripted questions raised by treasury bench members - Quamrul Ashraf Khan from Narsingdi and Begum Akhter Jahan from Rajshahi - in the House with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
The minister said the members of law enforcement agencies are working relentlessly to maintain law and order side by side with ensuring safety and security of the people and their properties.
"There is no alternative to ensure people-friendly police forces for developing law and order situation throughout the country. Industrial police, naval police, tourism police, Special Security and Protection Battalion (SBPN), Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), were added to the organisational structure of Bangladesh Police," he added.
He said the government always shows zero tolerance towards militancy and terrorism.
