Gold worth Tk 1cr seized at Benapole

Customs Intelligence arrested three Indian nationals with 17 gold bars worth around Tk 1 crore at Benapole international check post  yesterday.

The arrestees are Dhiman Sarkar, 38, son of Dhiren Nath Sarkar, Nitesh Singh, 25, son of Dhirendra Singh, and Moheshlal, son of Birju Lal of North 24 Pargana district in Pashchimbanga.

Benapole Customs Intelligence Deputy Commissioner Abdus Sadek said, acting on a tip-off, members of customs intelligence conducted a drive in customs check post area and arrested them. The bars were in their stomachs.

The gold was deposited to the Benapole customs godown.
