Gold worth Tk 1.20 crore seized

Gold worth Tk 1.20 crore was seized in Rajshahi and Benapole yesterday.

Members of Department of Narcotics Control arrested a man and seized 15 gold bars worth Tk 70.50 lakh at Godagari upazila.

The arrestee, Md Liton Ali Sheikh, 30, of Sirajganj, was transporting the gold weighing over 1.7 kg  to Chapainawabganj for smuggling to India, said narcotics official  Mohammad Lutfar Rahman.

Liton said he collected the bars from Dhaka and went to Rajshahi the previous night.

Our Benapole correspondent reports: The BGB arrested a man with 10 gold bars worth Tk 50 lakh from Putkhali village under Benapole Port Police Station.

The arrestee is Md Ripon Hossain, 22, of the village.
