Four kids drown
Four children, including two siblings, drowned in Moulvibazar and Thakurgaon yesterday and on Sunday, report our correspondents.
In Moulvibazar, two children drowned at Sultanpur village in Moulvibazar municipality yesterday.
The deceased, Anjona Akther, 7, daughter of Chan Mia, and Tania Akther, 7, daughter of Siddique Ali.
Villagers rescued one of their fellows Ayesha Akther, 8.
Local councillor Anisuzzaman Bayes said the three kids went missing while bathing in a pond near their house around 2:30pm.
Locals rescued them and took them to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital where the doctors declared Anjona and Tania dead, the councillor said.
Away in Panchagarh, two siblings drowned in Boda upazila on Sunday.
The victims were Rimon, 8, and Rifat, 6, sons of Abdul Hakim of Marea Colony.
Marea Union Parishad Chairman Abu Ansar said the victims came to their maternal grandfather's house at Salimabad cluster village and drowned when they went to take bath in the Karatoa river.
Later local people recovered their bodies from the river in the evening.
