Firecrackers seized

Benapole Customs Intelligence officials recovered 3.5 maunds of firecrackers from a train at Navaran rail station of Jessore yesterday.

Md Abdus Sadeq, deputy commissioner of Benapole Customs Intelligence, said acting on a tip-off, a team raided the Khulna-bound commuter train from Benapole rail station and seized the firecrackers from a toilet of the train.

However, none was arrested in this connection, he said.

Smugglers brought the firecrackers illegally from India through Putkhali border area, said Sadeq.

A case was filed with Benapole Police Station in this connection.
