Dyke's concrete blocks used to build madrasa
A section of people are removing the concrete blocks of a groyne at Boaldah village in Sadar upazila for using those to construct a madrasa building.
Locals alleged that some people of the area, led by Boaldah Dewan Manjil Ebtedayee Madrasa Managing Committee President Gias Uddin, removed a number of concrete blocks of the groyne built to protect the newly-constructed Haripur Shiekh Russel Bridge on the Gorai river.
“The blocks have been used to construct the madrasa building,” said a witness, also resident of the village.
Hatosharipur Union Parishad Chairman M Shampa Mahmud inaugurated the construction work of the madrasa building on January 26.
Shampa said she inaugurated the construction work but does not know about theft of the blocks.
Gias Uddin admitted the incident, but denied his involvement in it.
“I don't know who has done it,” he said.
Assistant Commissioner (land) of Sadar upazila Sakib Al Rabbi said action would be taken against anybody found to be involved in the theft.
“The administration will look into the matter,” he said.
