Drugs worth Tk 81 lakh seized

Detective Branch (DB) of police during their four-month drive to free the district from abuse of drugs recovered different banned drugs worth about Tk 81 lakh from August 1 to December 14.

The drugs include phensidyl, Yaba and heroin.

During the time, the detectives arrested 56 drug peddlers from different areas in the district and filed 46 cases, accusing 105 people in this connection.

Besides, they recovered cash, mobile phone sets and stolen motorbikes, said AKM Mehedi Hasan, officer-in-charge of Gaibandha DB police.

The arrestees include accused Abu Taher, Sohel Sarker, Rokanuzzaman alias Emran, Saad Mahmud alias Saikat and Mizanur Rahman.
