For delay in papar delivery!
A woman who sold papar at Malgram area in Bogra town was burnt by a youth on Friday as she was late in giving the item to him.
The victim is Rabeya Begum, 50, wife of day labourer Abul Kashem of Malgram Collegepara in the town, and mother of a girl.
She was rushed to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital (SZMCH), and referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) yesterday as her condition deteriorated. Rabeya left for DMCH for admission to Burn Unit around 4:00pm.
The youth is Sharif Uddin Ratan, 28, son of Habibur Koshi of the area.
Police and victim's relatives said Rabeya was helping her husband to make papar in the evening on Friday when Sharif came to the shop and wanted papar immediately. She asked him to wait a few minutes.
Sharif got angry and poured a pot of hot oil on her. Rabeya suffered burn injuries on her face and was rushed to SZMCH, they added.
Sharif fled from the spot immediately after the incident.
Dr Prof Abdul Mottaleb, head of the surgery department of SZMCH, said 27 percent to 30 percent of Rabeya's face and throat were burnt.
Inspector (inquiry) of Sadar Police Station Aslam Ali said preparation is going on to file a case.
Police arrested Sharif's wife and sister-in-law in this regard, Aslam said.
