Death threat for playing speech of Bangabandhu

Unidentified callers gave death threat to a man for playing the speech of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and patriotic songs through sound boxes in Joypurhat Sadar upazila.

The threat recipient, Osman Ali, 50, of Hanail village under Joypurhat Sadar upazila, filed a general diary with the local police station on Friday night.

“I got a phone call around 8:00pm. At the other end of the phone, a few men were shouting, telling me to stop playing the historic 7th March speech of Bangabandhu and patriotic songs using sound boxes at my business place in Palli Bidyut area of Joypurhat Sadar upazila. They threatened to kill me if I do not comply,” he mentioned.

Selim Hossain, OC of the police station, said they are investigating the matter with due importance.
