Cop held while selling Yaba in Cox's Bazar
Police detained a police constable allegedly for selling Yaba tablets and seized 23,000 tablets from his possession in Kalatoli area of the town on Monday.
The arrestee, Saddam Hossain, is a member of Cox's Bazar Court Police.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by Officer-in-Charge (investigation) Bakhtiar Uddin Chowdhury of Sadar Police Station arrested Saddam while he was selling Yaba tablets in Hotel-Motel zone around 1:00pm, police sources said.
A case was filed against Saddam under the Narcotics Control Act. Police produced him before a Cox's Bazar court yesterday morning that sent him to jail.
Meanwhile, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members seized 1 lakh Yaba tablets worth around Tk 3 crore in Teknaf upazila yesterday morning.
Lt Col Abu Jar Al Jahid, commanding officer of BGB 42 Battalion in Teknaf, said, on secret information, a team of the border guard raided Jetty Ghat area around 10:00am, and seized the pills.
Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the smugglers fled the scene.
