Contractors demand removal of engineer

Contractors in Bandarban held a protest rally in the town on Thursday, demanding removal of a government engineer.

They alleged that Mohon Chakma, executive engineer of Bandarban Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), assaulted contractor Rafiq Ahmed on Tuesday.

Mohon rejected the allegation saying contractors who are in the ruling party are conspiring against him as he did not release more than the amount stipulated in the bill for construction of Baniachhara-Gazalia road under Lama upazilla.

Earlier, they submitted a memorandum to the chief engineer of LGED through the deputy commissioner of Bandarban.
