C’nawabganj SP exempted upon apology
The High Court today exempted TM Mujahidul Islam, superintendent of police in Chapainawabganj, from a suo moto rule issued for his comments on punishing robbers.
The HC bench of Justice Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque and Justice Mohammad Ullah passed the order after accepting unconditional apology offered by SP Mujahidul.
He offered apology to the HC bench realising that his statement was not correct. So, the court pardoned him, his lawyer Barrister Shafique Ahmed told The Daily Star.
He appeared before the HC bench in the morning as per its earlier order.

The High Court on November 27 summoned the SP to appear before it today (December 4) to explain his comments.
While speaking as a special guest at an eye treatment camp on the Chapainawabganj Eye Hospital premises on November 25, Mujahidul reportedly said people should crush robbers alive if they are caught red-handed.
“If a robber is caught red-handed, make an announcement in the locality, beat him to death, burn cars carrying illegal drugs. I am giving the guarantee that you will not be sued," he was quoted by a Bangla daily recently.
