Charges pressed against 15 Shibir, Jubo Dal men
Charges have been pressed against 15 Shibir and Jubo Dal men in the case for attacking law enforcers during hartal in Bogra town in 2014.
Although sub-inspector (SI) Abdur Razzak, also investigation Officer (IO) of the case, submitted the charge sheet to the Judicial Magistrate's Court recently, police disclosed the matter to local press on Sunday.
The charge sheeted accused are Shibir Bogra town unit president Alauddin Shohel, secretary Abdus Samad, activists Nujafa Nayeem, Shah Jamal, Mostayeen Billah, Jahangir Alam, Shamim Mia, Mahamudur Rahman, Shohel Rana, and Rezaul Karim, and Jubo Dal district unit organising secretary Shanto Mia, Jubo Dal district unit leader Mahamudur Rahman, and activists Khorshed Alam, Ataur Rahman and Jony Mia.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Zulhaj Uddin of Sadar Police Station lodged the case, accusing the Shibir and Jubo Dal men on the day.
According to case statement, the accused swooped on the on-duty police and BGB men in Satmatha area of the town during hartal enforced by the BNP-led alliance on September 21, 2014.
They also hurled crude bombs at the law enforcers, leaving policeman Ruhul Amin injured, the statement said, adding that police and BGB men had to fire at least 15 rubber bullets to disperse the attackers.
After investigation, Investigation officer Abdur Razzak pressed charges against the accused. He said most of the accused are now on bail.
