Bridge on Tangon river opens to traffic
The 275-metre bridge on the Tangon river in Sadar upazila was inaugurated on Friday. Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) implemented the bridge project at a cost of Tk 14 crore.
Ramesh Chandra Sen MP attended the inauguration programme as chief guest while Mohammadpur Union Parishad Chairman Md Sohag was in the chair.
Nasrin Begum, 20, of Gilabari village and a student of Thakurgaon Government College said it was a joyful day for them. “We had to travel about 20 kilometres to go to the district headquarters, now it is only five kilometres,” she added.
Shajahan Ali, former chairman of the union, said the dream of the people has been fulfilled.
LGED Executive Engineer Kanteshwar Barman spoke at the gathering.
